We are seeking dedicated Seasonal, Part Time gardener to join our team.
As a Crew Member, you will play a vital role to help grow and supply year-round flowers for the agritourism farm, Red Oak Lavender Farm, ensuring that the customer's experience is one of beauty and enjoyment.
You will be responsible for assisting with various tasks related to flower production and growing.
This is a great opportunity for someone who has floral experience and wants to do what they love part-time.
Duties:
- Assist with planting, growing, and harvesting flowers for retail sales - Ensure proper watering and fertigation of plants - Deadhead flowers and harvest in a timely manner - Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment - Follow company policies and procedures to uphold standards - Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area - Are willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions -Perform field work including, but not limited to, seeding, transplanting, hand weeding, hoeing, moving irrigation, watering and harvesting - Use and safely handle farm equipment including tillers, wheelbarrows, tools and hand-tools such as shears and knives for planting and plant maintenance Skills:
-Graduation from high school; plus, One (1) year of experience performing related to gardening and best practice horticulture - Knowledge or interest in gardening, or cut flowers is a plus - Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment - Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize tasks efficiently - Ability to follow routine verbal or written work instructions on assignments; ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; ability to establish effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow employees, public and volunteers; ability to perform strenuous physical labor; ability to work outdoors under extreme weather conditions.
Ability to answer questions from the public regarding the type and care of plants and tourist information; Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Ability to read and understand Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) reports.
- Tasks require a variety of physical activities generally involving muscular strain.
Physical demands may occur in activities related to walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, lifting, etc.
Must be able to exert 25-30 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, otherwise move objects.
Talking, hearing and seeing required in the daily performance of job duties.
Exposure to weather, environmental hazards and dangers resulting from working around equipment and in an agricultural environment.
Mental application utilizes memory for details and discriminating thinking.
